It irritates me to no end that FCPS delays them for so long. The score is calculated immediately upon completion of the test. The norms are already available for the year so it should be instantaneous and automatic to be able to produce the report.
Why can't they be included, at minimum, in the report card that came out today (which our prior school district did - we never had to wait this long)? |
| Why doesn’t everyone get report cards the same day? Our middle school posts as soon as grade book closed. Elem school isn’t this Friday the 7th. |
| * Isn’t until |
| This varies so much school to school. My 3rd grader’s teacher gives them individual information verbally when they finish the test, and then a printout comes home about a week later. I don’t know why some of the schools sit on the results so long, it makes no sense to me. |
| Related, what is the document called when want to ask for the full results from iready so can better understand what areas got all right, areas where got all wrong, etc. |
It's frustrating to me because I'd like to know about the specific areas so I can help support/reinforce in a timely manner. |
| This may not be the case, but delaying the release of the test results, sometimes by months, really gives the impression that the teachers and administration don't want to spend time discussing them with parents. Which I get. But if iReady is so pointless, stop giving it three times a year! |
|
You might recall that there was a snow delay of a week. iReady tests are still being administered THIS WEEK, so of course they're not going to release them while the window is still open.
The entitlement to get whatever you want whenever you want it is ridiculous. I hope you're ready for when your kid takes the SAT. They'll be waiting weeks. |
I had no idea that some kids are still taking iready now. My kid took it a few weeks ago. Regardless, the score is ready immediately and the score report could be immediately produced and uploaded with minimal effort, if not within a week or less. So other schools not having taken the iready yet really doesn't matter. All that matters is that they do not produce an immediately available report for pretty much no reason. I don't see why it is "entitlement" that something straightforward, immediate, and automatic is simply not done for a month or longer. |
DP to add - in the fall, it took two months to see my kid's score and that is ridiculous. |
|
DD 5th grade ES teacher doesn’t discuss it at all during the Parent Teacher conference. We asked about it and said it’s just diagnostic and does not affect her teaching or class at all. Heck, in 3rd grade, DD said the faster they finished the ready, the quicker they could go to recess.
I get the impression the teachers aren’t concerned with the iReady. |
Think this used to be case for teachers and parents and may still be for teachers, but isn’t FCPS now using those tests as one of the markers to select AAP kids? |
|
Why would we have to wait for every last kid to complete their iready for the scores to be released?
Generally, why is it that FCPS is so good at sending out useless "information" (e.g., see latest boundary review email) and so bad at sending out important info in a timely manner? |
Yes, and it's also used to help determine if a child should be in advanced math or advanced language arts. |
agree it doesn't serve equity to delay scores for everyone. also that boundary review email series is such a joke. none of the takeaways have anything substantive. |
