FARMS status a factor for Poolsville SMACS?

Anonymous
Does anyone know if being one of <10 kids taking Alg 2 in 8th grade increases chances? Does Poolesville care about this, or is anything above Algebra in 8th all the same?
Also, will being non-FARMS in a high-FARMS school or vice versa impact chances? I.E., does SMACS care about school FARMS or student FARMS?

Poverty level isn’t relevant

Yes ever FARMS status is a factor. This is important for equity and MCPS has said this repeatedly

Not for high school criteria programs.

Criteria seems to be mostly MAP scores and grades. Just have your kid do the best they can and see what happens.

BTW at Poolesville the kids on the highest math track all end up in same Functions class regardless of whether they take Algebra 2 or not.
