Does anyone know why menus differ from school to school, especially for veggies and fruits choices? Some ESs provide more varieties that the other.

| Interested in learning more, thanks for posting. |
| Can you give an example? How do you know this? |
+1 Maybe the food is different but afaik the menu is the same. They don't send out school-specific menus. |
| If I had to guess, different vendors deliver to different schools. |

Also, know that was is written on the menu is not what you see in the cafeteria.
Yogurt with blueberries sounds great. It’s actually blueberry flavored trix yogurt which is full of sugar and no actual blueberries. |
| Interesting. it used to be that you looked up the menu for the day which was system wide. Now you have to use something called MealViewer and each menu is specific to the school. Today our school lunch veggies are chickpeas and crinkle cut potatoes (aka fries?) :-/ Other schools at least offer baby carrots |
I have volunteered at lunch, and that Trix yogurt is disgusting. I can't believe they give that to kids. |

The menu should be the same for all elementary schools - but the catch is the cafeteria manager. If they don’t order enough produce, or enough of a particular menu item, then you see more changes.

The source is MealView on MCPS website. Some schools offer at least two varieties of veggies and fruits, and others just one. Breakfast choices are somewhat different also. Specifically, schools in Bethesda, for example, offer better options than schools in Silver Spring. |
Don't eat those. |
How surprising. Not. |
