Health care benefits for 76 yr old green card holder

Can someone guide about the health care benefits or insurance a green card senior citizen can apply for? They had the green card for less than a year. Thank you for your help.

Why should they be eligible for anything? I don’t like saying “go back” in general, but in this case it seems obvious they should return to the country of origin for support. Retiring to the US to rely on the social safety net is absurd.

Americans do it to Costa Rica. One of many reasons Costa Rica is raising the cost of social health insurance.

That doesn’t make it any better. Costa Rica should shut that down too, unless they prefer the business. But “he’s doing it too!” Is not a valid argument for continuing a poor practice.

I love how OP asked about insurance and the immediate response was “go back.” OP didn’t even say she was looking for a handout but it didn’t stop the MAGA moron from immediately barking “go back.”

OP unfortunately they’ll have to get insurance on the open market and it’s going to be expensive.

But this is exactly what triggers people. The right is dividing us by insisting that so many "illegals" come here for "free care". It's inflammatory and they make blanket statements about ER rooms being full of illegals.

Then the rest of us look at the data and it's not supporting that, but someone does have to pay for that care, however large or small it is. Once everyone has calmed down, we get the anecdote like this one poster asking about benefits for one elderly person and it sets everyone off again.
