First year of charter schools

We are seriously considering starting our daughter at Washington Yu Ying Charter School for preK next year. It will be the school's first year which I suspect will have both pros and cons. I would love to hear what experiences people have had with charter schools in their early years as well as the pros and cons of charters in general. We also have a spot in our neighborhood public school but are intrigued by the enthusiasm and qualifications of the Yu Ying teachers and administrators as well as the Chinese immersion.
