Baby registry items?

Anonymous
Checking on a baby registry for a gift for someone and it has a couple of dozen items listed. Many of the baby items have already been purchased and most of the items left (apx. 15 or so) are specifically for breastfeeding, things like nipple creams, nipple pads, etc.

While those certainly are practical, does this mean she really wants someone to buy those as a "baby" gift? I don't know her well and would feel a bit awkward sending her jars of nipple cream. I am not big on giving gift cards but I guess that would be the viable alternative.

Send the nipple cream. That stuff was a lifesaver.

Is the baby due soon? If not, I would wait to see if any more items are added to the registry.

I have had some of the same thoughts when looking at registries but they did choose it. When the shoe was on the other foot I fully realized I was putting some pretty personal products on my registry and was glad to get them!

If you're at all uncomfortable just give the gift card, that's fine.

I was happy to get things like butt paste and diapers if that is more acceptable to you. Otherwise Target gift card and a book is nice too.

I totally support thr practical items!! That's what I needed post birth- got all the toys, clothes, books as hand me downs but spent lots of nursing and diapering. Amazon or target gift cards also great

I agree. My mom actually made it a point to buy all of the breastfeeding items for my sister and I and my cousins. She felt like she was close enough for it not to be awkward but she would never buy those items for other people. So you are not alone in your thinking.
