Loudoun - no school but sure lets play ball!

Is this standard for Virginia schools? No school but games on and a two hour delay tomorrow. Tell me you prioritize sports without telling me you prioritize sports

Well, why not hold the activities you can hold safely? It wasn't safe to operate buses this morning, but its safe for parents to drive their kids to activities tonight. I don't see the. big deal.

Although I would agree and be happy that my kids would get the chance to play I do think it sends a bad message.

Isnt it all about transportation and that’s the issue with schools opening or closing?

Transportation, yes, but also whether or not walkers, which at some schools half of student students are, can safely navigate sidewalks.

Activities are optional and kids get themselves there without standing at a bus. So that’s different than having school that day. That being said schools are open tomorrow so activities tonight makes sense.

Yeah, well, tell that to APS.
I agree that on first impression it sends a bad message, OP. However, there are so many closure days that aren't all that bad to begin with but Arlington, for example, always shuts down all activities with a closure. Having had several such experiences in the past, it is frustrating because our kid's extracurricular is at a big disadvantage with those closures happening so often on rehearsal days and the streets and weather being fine by afternoon, but cancelled anyway.

I think the bigger sad message is: the world must shut down because of a little snow...or the threat of a little snow.

Welp and now school is closed tomorrow…. So ok for 4pm - 9 pm but not ok for actual instruction….pathetic…. Direct result of too many snow days built into the calendar

This is bullshit. We’re telling our kids to fear snow and ice and to be soft.

Drama mom OP has no athlete at home and doesn't understand the there is more to the closing decision than just white stuff being on the ground

The neighborhood streets are not clear in most of Loudoun. Loudoun is more than Ashburn.
