Hospice in the Arlington area

Anonymous
It seems likely my MIL will need to go to hospice / palliative care this week. Can anyone provide insight / experience with a hospice facility? No idea how / where to start looking. MIL has both Medicare and Medicaid.

Background - she has dementia and a long list of other ailments. She was basically bedridden the last yr and needed 24 hr care. Last week she got a uti at her care facility and taken to the hospital. She’s been unresponsive for most of the past week - opened eyes a few times. Hasn’t said anything. Has a feeding tube at this point too. Her antibiotic course will finish tomorrow and then we need to decide what to do on Wednesday - assuming her condition doesn’t change…
Really didn’t like her care facility at all - so looking for alternatives for hospice

The one I know of in Arlington (near Virginia Hospital Center) is closed for renovations.

What does the social worker at her current hospital say?

Op here - good question. So far the two dr’s my husband has talked to have only talked about her current condition and that we’ll need to assess/ decide on Wednesday what to do. They haven’t recommended any specific hospice. I don’t think we’ve talked to a social worker yet. Will try to connect with them today.
