RTR Pilates, aka Rock the Reformer, has a studio in Friendship Heights and just opened one at Chevy Chase Lake.

There are several newer studios that are excellent. Right Fit Pilates in downtown Bethesda. Epiphany Pilates in Fairfax County. Four Pilates opening up on Georgia Avenue close to Howard, Columbia Heights and Petworth on March 1 (have not been obviously, but the owner is an outstanding instructor). I hear Equinox down by foggy bottom also has a good program, too.

Club Pilates in crown is also great. Club Pilates isn’t know is the best, but it’s great for beginners because you can go often. They have some really great instructors at the Crown location.

NP. Do any of these places offer private lessons? I contacted RTR but they don’t. Would love recommendations in close-in Montgomery County or Upper NW.

you can ask most studios if they will refer you to contacts that provide private classes. Or you can ask instructors that you've had recently or in the past if they teach private classes - many do.

Club Pilates in Silver Spring offers private sessions.

Being a beginner, recommending that you join a gym that offers mat pilates classes and includes access to an up charged reformer class.

Lifetime Potomac/Rockville has this. IMO it will offer you a range of options to compliment the Pilates work. And all the trainers have to be experienced. I was really hurt by a newly accredited teacher years ago that taught in a small studio. You can start with Arora Pilates which caters to beginners, injured, and 55+. Get the basics down and there are step up classes. Of course, private is also offered if that's what you want.
