I went there as a kid for overnight camp long ago. Has anyone been recently?

What worked well or poorly in recent experience? TIA

I've heard it's very well organized and counselors are amazing.

Yes, for tracking ranks/progression through the years. Green for land. Blue water/sea.

Yes, a few differences (SG has a golf course, SF riding) maybe a few others but the core is the same

No uniforms but the middy (cute selailor shirt) worn for cabin photos

My kids went for many years. Last year was the last for the oldest who was a counselor and younger one had high school sports conflicts or else would be back this year.

Our experience was incredible. Older child went from after 2nd grade up until senior year. Younger one went starting after 1st up until after 9th. They learned so much and more importantly gained so much confidence. They also have numerous call friends they still stay in touch with. It’s so well run with verposituve leadership and counseling staff. I can’t recommend it enough.

Are they mostly attended by local kids in NC? Any DMV kids go there? I am debating if it is worth it to drive my kid for 6 hours one way from dmv to attend these camps. Kid enjoys Y camp letts, are these 2 Y camps worth a lot for the drive?

There's a random person on instagram I follow whose kids go there- @talesofaneducateddebutante. She's super outspoken and brash but don't let that put you off. I think she would be happy to DM about the camp(s) because she always has really thoughtful positive things to say in her posts about it and its impact on her kids.

I have many relatives in that area, and none of them ever went to Camp Seagull. Didn't have the money.

It's full of kids from families with more money in the DMV, the Research Triangle area, suburban Richmond, Charlotte, Atlanta, etc.
