I have a question about holiday tips. This year my mother is in an assisted living facility but we also have agency caregivers visit every day for several hours, since she needs that extra support. There are four different agency aides on the rotation.
How much do I tip each agency aide? Who and how much should I tip at the assisted living place? It’s a fairly large group of them and from what I can gather, no particular one or two are assigned to my mom. |
Technically they probably are not supposed to accept tips. I'd bring in snacks and treats that will keep well because they're probably getting a lot this time of year. Like containers of David's cookies. |
I have tipped my mom's in cash and they always accept it. Perhaps you can give in a gift card form to avoid it not being accepted? |
OP. The aides from the agency can accept cash. I just don’t know how much to give. I imagine facility staff would happily accept a discreet card with cash tucked inside. |
They don't want junk. If you are allowed to tip and your mom likes them and you think they are good, give cash. If you are feeling generous and can afford it-do $50-100 each. You can even give $20 each if that is all you can comfortably do and just say you wish you could do more. You can even go as low as $10 if you genuinely cannot afford to do more or you want to do something, but you don't think they are that helpful. Give it with a card. Cash is king. |
Write a kind and very specific note. We did that and $25 for the CNAs who care for my dad. I wish I could have done more. |
