| Why is this allowed? It’s non-stop and so loud and annoying. I can’t concentrate at all. The hum of the lawnmower doesn’t bother me. JFC does every last leaf need to be blown off the lawn? |
|
Yesterday I had the windows open to enjoy the weather. I closed them when two neighbors both started blowing leaves.
It was disappointing but I get taking advantage of the warm day. |

You live in a neighborhood where people hire lawn crews. Blowing is one of the most labor efficient and impactful things they can do, so it makes sense that they do it all the time.
I live in a neighborhood with a combo of hippie types who leave their leaves for the bugs and lazy types who don’t bother, and I don’t have this problem. We have other noise though. But basically that particular noise pollution is a cost of living in a fancy neighborhood. |
| My neighbors just mulch/chop the leaves up with the lawnmower. |
| OP where do you live? Gas-powered blowers are being phased out across the DMV at different rates depending on which jurisdiction you live in. |
|
I am not so bothered by the professional crews because at least they are relatively fast and it's once or twice and done. I'm more bothered by individual homeowners who go out every day with the leafblower and seem to have nothing else to do with their day but blow leaves. We used to live next to one of these.

You have had the pleasure of "professionals" standing in the street blowing leaves, to kill time, oblivious of cars coming up. |
|
Grow up. Get a pair of Bose headphones if you’re so fragile.
|
| Yup, the three neighbors surrounding me all use the same company and Thursday is the day they come to do all three homes, which means about 2 straight hours of blowing. I’ve had to move my work stuff into the basement to blunt the noise, it’s so frustrating. |
|
the leaf blowing is driving me insane today better than gunshots |
|
You have a kindred spirit, OP!
|
| Why are people allowed to do things that annoy me? |
So maybe go back to the office? Nothing irritates me more than people complaining about their remote work situation. If it’s “driving you crazy” why don’t you just go into the office on Thursdays |
doesnt matter...there is no realistic way to enforce it. woul dyou rather have the police writing revenue tickets to some landscape crew or working on real crimes. what really frustrating is that when these blower bans go into effect, in some cases the local governments are exempt from the policy... |
| Mine were here all morning. yard looks great. |
