Hi everyone, my name is Sara Randazzo and I'm a national education reporter at The Wall Street Journal. I'm working on a story right now about teacher-parent communication apps like ClassDojo that offer paid upgrades for parents. I'm curious if people find these apps useful, either in the free or paid versions. I'm hoping to chat with a few interested parents by phone but also welcome any thoughts in the comments. I can be reached at sara.randazzo@wsj.com or 310-498-4710 to set up a time to speak. Thanks so much!

No they are terrible. Let continue to dilute the teacher parent relationship even further

They’re terrible.
ClassDojo has privacy concerns.
They are also money makers trying to entice families to pay for premium subscriptions.
Prodigy is another terrible one being pushed by teachers with the free subscription but is addictive and tempts children to want to convince their parents to pay for the paid subscription. It’s awful.

She’s gonna need you folks on the record.

I also do not use any of these types of platforms because of privacy concerns. I am so disappointed that schools are using these platforms and that there's no alternative for parents who are uncomfortable with them. How have we accepted opt-ing in minors for these platforms?
