NYC during 13th weekend

want to visit NYC during 13-16th December weekend but the prices are crazy. I go to NYC very regularly but have never seen prices at this level. Is there anything going on? I couldn't find it.

It’s December in NYC. Nothing more needs to be going on. Don’t come, it’s super crowded and expensive.

Christmas. The holiday season is going on.

NYC is always like this at Christmas time. We are planning our trip for just after christmas this year. Taking our kids who love the city but have never been at Christmas.

The NY Times did a story about how crazy the hotel rates are right now in NYC. It is a combo of some cheaper hotels being used to house migrants, the air BNB restrictions and a change in zoning rules that made it harder to build new hotels. If you can wait until January, hotel rates are lower. I just booked a room at a hotel I like for $250/night for MLK weekend

I thought the same, so expensive this year

Sunday night into Monday sometimes has deals. You’re better off going in January or February, especially not on mlk or Presidents’ Day weekend. But yeah, expect it to be at least $400/night for manhattan.

I booked months ago and mid week. Most hotels were over &500 a night. It was hard to find a deal this year.

Do yourself a favor and do NOT go that weekend! Santacon is on the 14th and the city will be overrun by drunk, rowdy people in Santa costumes. Getting around will be difficult, cabs will be hard to come by. And hotel prices will be ridiculous!

Hotwire has some hotels for that weekend in the $400-$500 range but that is without the fees.

Is anything going on??? Is that a serious question...?

So many hotels opted to co-op with their politicians and now all their rooms are reserved for migrants. Very few hotels are available for anyone else.
