E-Bikes

Some citizens in my town have are so against e-bikes and some of it I get since they don't always obey traffic laws. But that said, a lot of the tone has been racist and bigoted.

For example, there have been a few crimes in town and the dialog somehow ends back to the e-bikes which are totally unrelated to the crime. A woman in a town safety meeting even said an e-bike rider was from Chad and didn't speak English as if that was somehow a crime. It seems like some of the false narrative about immigrants and crime have made its way into the psyche of some of the locals.

I don't know what to do, how to effect change in the rhetoric but it is definitely distressing for me.
