Hansel’s Messiah

From what age would be ideal to start going to Handel’s Messiah? My oldest is nearly 7, she’s been to the Nutcracker but want to start an annual tradition of going to Handel’s Messiah. We will still go to the Nutcracker.

The whole Messiah, or even most of it as usually performed at Christmas, is a LOT for anybody, much less a young child. If there is a family version offered near you, that might be a good place to start — about an hour of the "good parts version," suitable for young attention spans, and a good way to get her used to hearing Baroque choral music. See how she takes to it and then maybe try a full version when she's 11 or 12? Curious what others think.

I stream parts of it around the house. The kids have gotten very familiar with many parts. Sometimes we sing along.

Hopefully this gets them interested in the performance when we see it live.
