Can someone walk me through the steps of setting up a “locked down” phone for my tween? I am not talking about guided access - I want it to have
Phone number Texting compatible to friends with iPhones No internet No YouTube Only a couple of apps Easy way for me to supervise Limited ways to go around and dodge my supervision Music |
Ps if there is. A website or Reddit board or Facebook page that is not full of trash than please refer me , thank you!! |
We got our tween a Pinwheel phone. It exactly fits your list. |
Beware of being too controlling. |
Thanks I will be aware. She is 11 though, not 16. No tips on how to set up an iPhone? |
Set up the accounts yourself and do not give her the password. She only gets the unlock code. My son does not know his AppleID. If he wants anything, like an app, in app purchase, it comes to you on the parent account. You can pick the phone up at any time and read through anything. I also turned off cellular access to most apps, and they only work on wifi.
Is you kid naturally obedient or sneaky? That will also dictate some choices. My kid still hasn’t realized how easy it is to switch on the cellular access. But if you just want a safety phone, an iPhone isn’t the best one. My son’s first phone was a piece of crap Motorola with an operating system that was always acting up. |
Thank you!!!! |
