Potomac soccer having ECNL ID sessions in Nov?

Anonymous
I randomly saw an ad on Facebook about this for 2011 and 2012. Admittedly nosey af, but does anyone know whether this is for current season or next? November seems so early for next season and so shady if for current season?

MAybe they don't have full rosters? Surprising they would admit this but not surprising that teams will always welcome new talent whenever in the calendar year

I think for the spring - our son is on one of the teams and they have a few trap players that will play on their “real” team in the spring if that makes sense - it’s because of the 8th grade/9th grade split

That is odd, rule was that ECNL teams can't have ID sessions until March.

But there shouldn't be trapped players for the two age groups in the ad (2011 - 7th/8th; 2012 - 6th/7th).

Potomac is ECNL for girls or boys? I don’t believe they have a girls ECNL team so the rules don’t really apply if it’s a girls team

They can't have tryouts for the following season until March. They can have id sessions to bring in players for the spring.

Looks like they’re already trying to demote players!

Sounds like they already know the age change is happening and getting ahead of the tryout wave. Or maybe every ECNL club is also doing this? So, is it real that ECNL teams are changing rosters in the Spring? If ECNL is allowing this, it won't be a 1 club change. They'll all do it. Clubs gotta keep up with the Joneses.

They are not allowed to use the ECNL branding for tryouts or ID clinics before a certain date in the spring. They can absolutely hold clinics, tryouts, etc. but they have to be called a different thing.

Surprised the ECNL hasn’t come after them on this. Most likely since it is the boys they do not care as much. If it were the girls it would be a different ballgame.

Then what happened with all the tryouts in May and June?

ECNL/RL ID Clinics last year were in March.
Some teams have 17-19 on rosters but you can carry 22 i think.
