We have a truly wonderful longtime nanny who also happens to be a football fan. We usually gift her a cash gift for her birthday and a card, but this year I was pondering as an extra thank you getting Commanders tickets. I have someone who will sell them to me. but I was wondering about the practicality of this and how I would go about it. I could ask her her preferred day, but that seems kind of weird, but getting them for a specific day she can't make also seems weird. Or is this not a good idea. I was hoping to do something beyond cash, which feels impersonal and this is something she would not get herself, but not sure. Any advice is appreciated!

Has she ever expressed interest in going? She may feel put on the spot to give you a date when she really doesn't want to go. |
Hi OP, that's so thoughtful of you! I think this would be tricky. I'm a nanny and a few years ago my former family was asking about a specific Sunday schedule where I already had plans and then was told they were trying to gift me football tix....I love football BUT would never go to a game 🤣 so I was glad I knew ahead of time. |
Ask her. I would not want that. |
are you a football fan? |
I'd love that!!!! I'd go any day!!! |
Thanks for the feedback, and while she loves all sorts of events and loves football has never specifically said she wants to go to a game (not sure she would though, it doesn't come up?)
If you have thoughts on alternative gifts (or if just cash is best) also happy to hear. I do want to take the time to do something nice. Thank you! |
Money. Just money. |
You’re a nice employer; while sport tix sounds so much fun I’d prefer the $$$ any day. |
