2029 Boys Lax

Anonymous
Starting a thread to discuss the local 2029 teams. Very talented group of local boys that deserve some chatter as they close out their youth play and enter the HS years.

Thoughts on:
1. HOCO
2. Private schools
3. public Schools
4. Fall ball
5. stand out players

Go to back of the cage if you want to get the scoop on hoco. Whole thread dedicated to 2029 midatlantic. Spoiler alert: reclass is the special of the night.

Please no names posted. Against the rules. I wouldn’t even entertain #5

Heavy Landon and Prep contingent in the 29 class from Next Level and Madlax. Close one goal game during first fall tournament that went Madlax's way. Likely few top players will attend public schools, same with every year in the DC area. HOCO top 4 will remain the same, toss up between NL, Hawks, TC and ML.

Intent was not for names. Please don't name kids on this forum

TC and Hawks are not the local teams. DC Express, NL, Madlax, any of the northern VA teams but Annapolis isn't local.

You are kidding right. Is there some issue with discussing 29 boys team. Just on this page there is 27 Girls topic with 54 pages. Not to be out done, there is a 27 girls recruiting post with 2 pages. There is a 28 girls page that started less than a year ago with 373 pages. There is also a 30 girls thread and a 29 thread but the boys should go over to that eye cancer website Back of the Cage. Give me a break. Don't want to read these post, then don't post. Pretty simple.

Disagree. Both TC and Hawks have kids from NOVA playing on their teams. Don't ask me why but some parents enjoy the punishment of driving from NOVA to Annapolis for practice but they do. Many of the Annapolis kids will be attending HS that are regularly talked about - Gonzaga, SJC, Dematha, GC, etc. See no reason why you shouldn't talk about them.

As a substantive matter, it will be interesting to see what HOCO does. There are likely 3 teams that should fill one spot. You have DCE forming from the aging up BLC program. You have the Predators that moved up last year because they won the AAA HOCO title in 2023 but didn't win a game in the Elite division. You also have the True NOVA Black that won the AAA HOCO title in 2024.

Fall ball results will likely have some influence on what HOCO does. Someone without any knowledge would assume that DCE has the inside track. But, that team is comprised by a large percentage of a BLC team that didn't even make the AAA playoffs in HOCO. So not sure that team is an automatic.

As for best player, without naming names, the best kid in the area is probably the attackman for ML that goes to Landon. Not huge by any stretch of the imagination but is just a freak athlete.

Think there will be some surprises headed to St. John's from 29 class from some of the local Clubs. SJC Coach by far the best recruiter out of the local hs coaches.

What does this mean? Why would it be surprising if any talented 29 went to SJC? Are there kids that are expected to go to other schools but planning to go to SJC?

All the privates are reaching out to kids/coaches and asking them to get their applications in.

Early indications are no the order is not the same. Also LTLC does not exist at 29 anymore and Team 91 bought out Richmond Hawks. Next Level appears to be the cream of the crop right now.
