Need help with 13th birthday ideas

Please help I've been going through a lot and so overwhelmed for the past few months. I've been been vascillating between numbness and stress.

My son's 13th birthday is coming up next week and I'm having a hard time coming up with a way to celebrate him.

I've asked what he wants but he says he doesn't really know.

What did you do for your son's 13th birthday? I'm looking for ideas and inspiration please. 🙏

It doesn’t have to be a huge deal every year. Ask him if he wants to take a few friends bowling or to a movie and then out for pizza. They might like an indoor swimming pool.

As PPs said. If he doesn't want anything to do with friends, surprise him on the morning of his bday with decorating breakfast table and putting a pile of presents and balloons...or 13 jars of his favorite treats. I did that for my kids 13th bday. He didn't want a party or outing with friends but has a major sweet tooth. I got 13 inexpensive jars at crafts store. Buy 13 of his favorite treats (cookies, candy, junk food). Do whatever might make him feel special.

Something special for breakfast (cinnamon rolls or TJs croissant) then birthday kid gets to pick the restaurant for dinner.

I think we ordered pizza for dinner that year. My son doesn’t like to make a huge deal about his birthday so I do whatever he asks for. I’m pretty sure he asked for pizza and ice cream at 13. He never wants to celebrate with friends so we stopped suggesting ideas and don’t force it.

21:26 and I just remembered he definitely wanted 13 donuts for breakfast too. That was a specific request I picked up at Dunkin that day.

My kid just had friends for a movie night. Dinner, dessert, movies/hang out. Super chill. Not a “party” per se. Just a hang out.

My kid and his best friend are tapering down too. They have just one their one best friend and they do things like an indoor climbing gym (outdoor in the summer), a movie and restaurant, or some laser tag at those awful places where you just go in as groups with whomever is there. They seem to enjoy all that.

I hope you feel better soon OP.

Took a few friends to an escape room.

Our 13 year old celebrated with a bunch of boys over for Panda Express catering and watching the new Twister movie with ice cream cake. The birthday kid wanted it to be low key.
