Do public schools offer shadow days?

Kids doing a shadow day at BASIS and Latin, does DCPS do them too by request?

Our WOTP school did not offer us a full shadow day but we were able to tour (we were moving from out of town). This probably varies by school.

Our public middle school hosts each feeder school’s 5th graders for a shadow day. They will also do shadow days on request, but they don’t necessarily advertise that.

If they do, I think they are often for 5th graders, not 4th, which is the year most families are entering the middle school lottery and doing Basis and Latin shadow days.

I've heard that if the school has lacrosse they have shadow days

Stuart Hobson does stepping up days for its feeder 5th graders. Imagine other middle schools do something like that too.

Wells also hosts days for its four elementary feeders, and the PTO actively invites prospective families to join some events beyond open houses.

In addition to our ES feeder shadow days, our IB MS offers shadows. My DC did it as a 5th grader (now 8th).
