Negative

Visi jv beat sr jv yesterday. Both teams are excellent. Both teams have underclassmen on varsity.

Both have every chance of being good for a while

Agreed. Have a daughter who plays lacrosse but isn’t at SR or Visitation, but i’m glad Visitation won. SR needed to be humbled and learn a lesson.

I always hate it when a group of high school girls feel strong and successful, if so they should be humbled and learn a lesson. Do you hear yourself? What a garbage way to talk about young women.

I don't have a daughter on either team but hope we can lift up young women who are working hard and doing well. Congrats to Visi yesterday, I hope all of these girls go on to do great things.

I don't think that poster was referring to girls feeling strong and successful. I think the reference was to the fact that SR likes to run up the score on weaker teams when they don't need to whereas many other good teams win with class. In hoping that all of these girls will go on to have successful lives the first hope is that they learn how to treat others. Thats how I read it anyways.

I take your point, but this is just not how we talk about male athletes at the same level. Girls are always encouraged to not win by too much, not be too dominant, not congratulate themselves for their success. This is not a comment on SR but just a general comment on how people on this board talk about strong girls who have any confidence, they all need to humble themselves. Why is that?

There’s a very similar conversation on the boys private thread with multiple people appreciating Landon for not running up the score on teams

Time will tell.

16 to 7. They were in full control the entire game. Solid lax from GC. SJC was sloppy. Turnovers, no ground balls, draw control killed them. You can’t play sloppy if you want a chance of it being somewhat close.

No dog in the fight, but I see a lot on here about SR being classless. GC players were as classless. Parents respectful.

These two teams will see one another again.

All of SJCs goals came off of the 8m. You can’t win against good teams if you can’t score in the run of play.

Many players talk trash to each other. For every story you hear about something being said to your team, I can almost guarantee someone on your team has said the same to another player. No one just wants to admit it when it’s their kid.
Anonymous
You are correct. They also had fast breaks but then would slow the play down to turn over the ball. Not sure what the strategy is, but it does not work for them. And none of them were aggressive on the goal. GC has 20+ girls that would start on any team. sJC has at most 8. They were no match for GC, but who is in this area??

There is no winning with this crowd. If a team stops scoring, they are stalling. (not classy) If a team keeps scoring, they are running up the score. (not classy) If they are joyful after they just beat your daughter's team, they most definitely are not classy.

Let them play. Let them win. Let joy be joy. Joy in victory sometimes feels like bad sportsmanship to the losing team, but if it is driven by the elation of victory, the closeness of a team achieving a plan that might have been hatched on an elementary school playground years ago, share their joy. Don't shame it.

I don’t think anyone has ever confused stalling and not running up the score. Ever.

Good counsel ran up the score at every opportunity. There is no need. That is poor leadership and sportsmanship.

GC definitely lacks class. Don’t know about today’s game, but I’ve seen them keep their starters in a blowout game well into the 3rd quarter.
Anonymous
We all have to get over starters in during blow out games, it could different, but not how it goes right now at the college level. Syracuse killed UVA today and Cuse starters in well into 4Q. Would love to see a coach break this trend.

It’s funny how mad you all are getting. The entire GC team saw time yesterday, including in the first half when the entire attack was subbed out at one point. You’re just mad they have depth.

Why don’t the teams getting blown out use their bench? When you’re being blown out, maybe they will provide a spark? Or get just them time. More of the SJC varsity bench played in the JV game than the varsity game.
