Moving – is local level AAP level IV a reason to stay at our old ES?

Anonymous
We are moving to a school in the same FCPS middle/high school pyramid. My son is in local level AAP level IV at our current school (in our old neighborhood). Can we use AAP as a reason to stay at the old school? The school in our new neighborhood offers local level IV too. Neither school is our pyramid’s center.

I believe the answer is no, but this is a great question for your school registrar.

No, but he can stay at your elementary school if he's a "senior".

Typically, no. AAP would allow you the option of your NEW base school, or your Center school, not your OLD base school's AAP. That being said, if your old school is under-enrolled and you are able to provide transportation, it might be an amenable accomodation that can be allowed. Talk to your school's registrar.

If he is a rising 6th, he can stay at base but I believe transportation is required.

Of cours not. Just put him in AAP at your new school.
