| I am 51. My last period was about about 5 months ago. Besides feeling bloated and gaining weight, this past week my breasts have gotten larger. They feel heavy and tender like when I was breastfeeding and needing to pump or maybe like prior to my period. It is so uncomfortable. Has anyone experienced this and how long did it last? |
| Have you done a pregnancy test?? |
| i am not pregnant |
| Has your doctor suggested trying pumping? |
Yeah, your doctor is not going to recommend that given that you are not in fact lactating. It’s all part of perimenopausal wackiness. It sounds like on the whole you’re doing pretty well, but if it gets extreme, find a specifically menopause-informed doctor to talk about your options. I am also in the middle of it and for me it lasts two weeks until I start to bleed. You probably just had a rogue ovulation. Hang in there! |

About 4 months into starting an HRT patch, my boobs went through the same thing, OP
Yup same sensation I had when I was nursing 15 yrs ago. My boobs went from deflated A/B cup, to much fuller C. And my libido was off the charts after being a zero for years. It was a much needed jolt to my marriage. But alas, after ~2 months things calmed way back down. Though boobs remain less deflated, they are no longer swollen and libido has settled down to somewhat improved |

I'm 52, and I've had this happen 2 or 3 times so far (maybe for 2 weeks or so, randomly, many months apart).
I don't generally have sore breasts or other PMS symptoms right before a period like I used to (my body likes to keep the start of a period a total surprise these days). But those weeks of being too big for my usually half empty A cup were weird. |
OP here- this is the same for me although I think my period has completely stopped but who knows. Every time this happens, I think I should go bra shopping because I'm so uncomfortable, especially in the heat. I procrastinate because I hate bra shopping, then back to my A/B. |
