What websites you use to shop for travel deals

Except expedia, priceline, travelocity, groupon, living social, travelzoo and costco, what websites do you shop for airflight/hotel deals domestic or international?

The real way to get travel deal sometimes is through points. Get a capital one venture card an AMEX platinum card or a chase ultimate rewards card.

Then follow sites like the points guy and one mile at a time for ways to maximize the strategy.

The webiste of the airline I plan to take, and the website of the hotel I plan to stay at.

TripAdvisor, for hotels for example, click on list of all deals, not just the top one. And check directly with hotel site, too.
For Europe and Asia, Agoda frequently has the best deal.

For flights, I use google flights to find decent fares and book directly with the airline.

For accommodations, I use an obsessive combination of google maps, booking.com, chase sapphire points, and airbnb. Then I book something, read a negative review, regret it, cancel it, and repeat the ridiculous process all over again.

I plug everything into a google spreadsheet to tabulate overall costs and average cost per night. Then when I inevitably cancel, I move things over to a second ‘canceled’ sheet. Why? I don’t know. It’s a pleasurable control thing I guess.

You don't come out ahead with this strategy unless you travel quite a bit. It can work, and I love The Points Guy for this, but those cards have fees so you need to know what you are doing.

If you travel enough or are looking for destinations I find Jack's Flight club is really good for alerting me to flight deals. It is a subscription but I find it worthwhile.
