There is a separate thread on DC cases that has been discussing since Saturday. |

except there's nothing "RW" about it, and its actually true. Its just a website that seems to have news 6-24 hours before it shows up most people pay attention. |
Of course it's RW. You sound uniformed. https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/zero-hedge/ https://www.cbsnews.com/news/twitter-bans-zero-hedge-coronavirus-conspiracy-theory/ https://www.businessinsider.com/who-is-zero-hedge-finance-blog-that-spread-coronavirus-misinformation-2020-2 Please stop posting that crap on DCUM. |

Third AIPAC Attendee Tests Positive for Coronavirus
https://collive.com/3-aipac-conference-attendees-test-positive-for-coronavirus/ Splunk held its big annual conference (2,000+ attendees) at the convention center starting the day after AIPAC ended. I was there and was puzzled by the lack of hand sanitizer and the help-your-self snack bars using scoops touched by everyone who then used their hands to eat their nuts/pretzels/etc. Here we go... |
No chance she got it on a plane? Airport? |
+1 They are really trying to downplay it. If there are no tests then it's just a cold! But don't spread it to someone vulnerable.... Are they trying to calm the economy, or tourism, or what? |
Oh, I meant to sign up to go and forgot. Thanks! |
| I want to see all the perfect memos and phone calls on THIS |
I think the issue is the air conditioning. The bus had the windows shut so the air recirculated throughout the bus. |
Its the economy (stupid). Which is so illogical because they’re only making the inevitable worse, which will be worse for them. |
Except the only passengers that have been on planes with coronavirus passengers that have been contacted are a limited few in direct close contact. And they are not being tested, just being told to self-quarantine. Also, all these cases being that are being touted as from international travel is only because people who have not internationally traveled are not being tested widely. So of course if you're only testing those that have internationally traveled to a country with infections then we'll only have positive cases from those people too. |
| I can tell that people feel very passionately about this issue on both sides of the coin (relax, no risk vs. hunker down as much as possible). I have started taking some steps to prepare and cut back exposure to large crowds, but also haven't cancelled our spring break travel plans. So, I have a question for epidemiologists and others who have spent more time reading up on COVID-19. (And I really want to ask a question, not start a fight.) Should I be viewing this differently than, say, an aggressive flu year when we know that the vaccine was not well matched? |
Yes. If you catch it over spring break, there will be enough tests then that you will be voluntarily or involuntarily quarantined. Think about what that would mean. |
| FWIW - Not trying to be a wise guy and did see the locked thread on this BUT heard from a credible medical professional in the infectious diseases space and she said she thought COVID 19 has been in the US since the late fall or early winter. She felt there has been too much travel and it’s too contagious for it to have taken long. Not sure what this means but she thinks it means that we need to wash our hands and stay smart but that we are already “in it” and need to carry on. |
