Passport vs Drivers License?

I think I know the answer but seeking confirmation before I escalate.

I had to get a new DL. They said it would arrive within 30 days but 30 days has come and gone. They claim it’s “still in process” and hasn’t even been mailed, so it’s not lost. In the event it doesn’t come before my trip, my passport will suffice in getting me through TSA checkpoints, correct? Travel is domestic and I won’t be driving. Also, will my passport work in the event I’m carded for drinks anywhere?

Yes a valid passport is an acceptable form of ID. A dive bar may look at your funny but they need to accept it.

Yes and yes, passport will work. I normally use my passport even when traveling domestically.

Why? It's expensive and annoying to replace.

I frequently use my passport card. Valid federal ID.

We always get a passport card to take on domestic trips as a form of backup ID. Rather lose it than my DL.

Isn't replacing a DL cheaper? Are you renting cars every week?
