Any experiences people can share with new AP at CCES?

I believe her name is Aara Davis-Jones. Has anyone had her at their school?

Seems weird they wouldn’t let the new principal hire the AP.

OP here -- I agree.

If the previous AP is leaving for a principal internship, it's not unusual for the director/associate superintendent to assign a new AP to replace them.

She is a former PRINCIPAL at Whetstone ES and Georgian Forest ES who was placed at Farmland.

Not necessarily a demotion - could be by choice. I know some APs who have no interest in being a principal. And I know other people who thought they wanted to be APs, and then after a couple of years decided they liked department head better.

When was this announced?

I don't think it was, formally. I think it's just word of mouth in the community. I expect it will be announced when the new principal is announced next week.

Well that is an odd process given that the principal is about to be appointed. Does not seem like central office is making much sense, but this is MCPS after all so perhaps par for the course.

There's always a lot of AP movement this time of year. For example, perhaps a principal intern has been assigned to Farmland for next year. So their current AP needs to move somewhere else.

Which makes sense if the principal is there to select the AP. But not when the principal is about to be appointed and would have time to select one.

Farmland is getting a principal intern. This has been confirmed and why the ap is leaving.
