What do successful applicants have? What is Stanford looking for? |
My son got in spring 2023. He had 4.0 unweighted, 1580 SAT, all 5s on APs, good ECs, but not anything award winning. He plans to major in Political Science or History so not anything STEM. I have no idea what got him in, but he did get a note from the woman who read his application about his essays, so maybe that was it.
He ended up choosing not to go. Too far and too expensive. He's at UVA and is very happy. |
Wow, no offense, but what a maroon! |
Ugghhh. At least you’re honest about the cost driving it, because these two schools are not remotely in the same ballpark. |
Who was the woman? |
Someone who lost capital advocating for a kid who didn’t yield. Will take it out on future applicants to that high school. Stanford’s yield rate is over 80%… |
A maroon? I assume you mean moron. That's a nice thing to call an 18 year old. |
Thanks for the tip. He'll be just fine. |
this is not how any of this works |
Oh? If you say so. I certainly would not have wanted to be a Stanford applicant from that high school the following year… |
I agree. If “fine” is your standard. |
Np. Oh yes it is…. |
I'm not the previous poster, but it's a Bugs Bunny reference, you ignoranamus. |
The fact that the PP didn’t get a stupid Bugs Bunny reference makes them an ignoramus? Mmmkay. |
as a LSJU alum, I see plenty of UVa kids achieve the same success or more as Stanford graduates. On average, sure the Stanford kid might do better. But the top 25% of both schools is comparable imo.
Get off the prestige boat here. It's dumb and telling. |
