Alison Serino from Westland MS was just shuffled to Bannockburn ES...I don't know about you, but I've never heard of anything positive of principals that "shuffle" from one school to the next. Any former teachers that worked with her have any intel?? Bannockburn is a pretty small school that is a right community... wondering how a new principal might fit in. |
I thought she's been principal at Westland for 10+ years...Not sure how that's "shuffling". Anyway, just about anybody would be an improvement over the outgoing BES principal, no? |
Trolling. Let's not, shall we? |
Yes - only comments about how much you love the outgoing principal and how devastated you are that she is retiring will be permitted here |
She's great and will be an asset to Bannockburn. Now that elementary and middle school principals are paid the same (that went into effect in FY21) it is not surprising that middle school principals want to finish out their careers in elementary. |
HS Assistant Principals have even moved down to ESs. Why deal with HS? But then they must deal with ES parents. Not sure which is worse. |
MS students are far more difficult than ES. More kids, more problems. Seems like a smart move to be admin at a school like Bannockburn with way fewer headaches. |
My kid is graduating from Westland MS today. We found Ms. Serino to be a warm and competent Principal. Westland organized a social event for new kids which my DD attended when she first came to this school, and because she was all by herself, Ms. Serino sat down next to her and they played a game together companionably. This is the sort of kind-hearted and relatable person she is. I think she'll be a great Elementary School Principal! |
My kid is also graduating from Westland today and I’ve got one more to go. I’m so sad Ms Serino is leaving Westland. She’s amazing. |
She is great! Bannockburn is lucky to have her. |
Good for her. Let her relax. There are two middle schools in BCC cluster. Is Silver Creek also getting a new Principal? |
Being a principal is a job. They have the right to switch jobs for whatever reason they want to. Nothing to see here. |
Could this be another possible reason she is moving to ES?
A post on a different thread: "FWIW, as of this year the RCF kids no longer have the choice between SSIMS and Westland. Unless their home school is SSIMS, they must attend Westland if they want to continue with immersion. This is, I believe, a function of the SSIMS renovation being sharply curtailed by budget cuts. It will be interesting to see how many kids continue with immersion in that case. The ones I know from Silver Spring are returning to home middle schools rather than deal with riding a bus to RCF and transferring to another bus to Westland MS." |

No - Dr. Awkard is still at SCMS. |
