Used to shopping at getting service at City Bikes in Adams Morgan, but now not sure where to go... Need to buy 3 adult-size bikes. Probably 2 hybrid and one 1 road.
Any recommendations? Any upcoming sales to know about? |
REI is good even though not a LBS. |
The bike industry is on tough times due to oversupply coming out of covid. I probably will never buy a new bike again. Used bikes are a great value if you know what to look for. Otherwise, trek has basically bought up most of the local bike shops.
All bikes are effectively the same within a model type, more or less. Especially the more relaxed non racing frames. Most of the carbon frames are laid up next to one another in Taiwan, even if a different brand. There are only two main group set manufacturers sold in the US anyways. Anyhow, shop around a little. You’ll find good deals even now as the oversupply persists. |

Takoma Bicycle is old school and helpful |
not unless you really like overpaying. Canyon bikes if you are ok doing some minimal setup yourself |
A hike for you, but Bike Lane in Reston.
On the trail, and you can get a beer while you're there! |
I read this too fast and thought it said "best place to buy blokes." |
Arrow Bicycle |
Until you've bought the bike and then you'll only get marketing emails. |
I like Proteus in College Park |
I second this!! Local store (college park) with great support and patience to find appropriate bike, fit, and service for the first X miles or six months or something. Also, my tall long legged child got a bike. |
Just buy used there are tons of rich people dumping very nice, lightly used bikes for cheap all the time. |
Green Lizard in Herndon. |
They make a great IPA. |
