I hope the father gets locked up for a long time.

During a graduation party at Contreras’ household, his daughter went to Walmart with her boyfriend for more supplies. The party was for her older brother. As they were walking up, a car with three teenage boys drove by and someone said “I’m your senior assassin” and shot them with gel blasters. Senior assassin is a game students at Goddard High School play where they shoot each other with water guns, she told a police detective. A gel blaster is “a toy gun which fires polymer water beads,” the affidavit said.

The 18-year-old who Ruben Marcus Contreras is accused of shooting has been hospitalized since the May 11 shooting and could be paralyzed, according to the probable cause arrest affidavit and the victim’s family.

Disproportionate but oh do I hate pranksters like that.

The dad is nuts. I don’t understand why the girl even called to complain to her dad about being shot with gel beads. It’s annoying, but not particularly harmful.

Obviously the father is 100% in the wrong.

As a side note, I would say in this day and age, playing any type of shooting “game” is stupid and unnecessary. It’s triggering to even read about, as someone who has a friend who was killed in a workplace shooting. It’s hard enough for kids and parents to even go to school these days. Think about Ulvade, for God’s sake. Any type of school shooting “game” is not to be tolerated.

The teenager is now paralyzed, and the father has been charged with attempted murder.

All of this.

I can’t imagine how the daughter feels. I wonder if she knew her father was a lunatic.

The Father is totally wrong and I’m glad he was charged. You don’t shoot a kid for doing something stupid.
Having said that. Teens should know better, you don’t just walk up to other people you don’t know and shoot them with anything.

My kid played senior assassin with water guns with kids they knew from HS. That dad is f*n nuts, especially considering he knew it was just gel blasters that was used. F*n NUTS!

That kid was stupid for what he did, but didn't deserve to be shot at with a real gun.

F*n nuts.

Agree. America is such a violent country, and gun obsessed.

We buy our children expensive first person shooter games, for entertainment. Half or more of our primetime “entertainment” options are about murder (usually femicide).

We are so surrounded by it, we do not even register how pathological it is.

This game was all the rage This year. Didn’t MCPs issue a statement about it? There was a dad who testified at one of the hearings complaining that The message was encouraging parents to call the police.

This.
And also gel beads are more dangerous than water.

Those stupid “senior assassin” games are tone-deaf, insensitive and dangerous.

They need to be illegal.

Seniors at a school in dc tried to play and administration put a stop to it. You just cannot joke about shooting people or use water guns in this climate without something potentially tragic happening.

There’s also nothing funny about pretending to assassinate someone. Not when real, actual innocent people are getting killed by criminals every day. Criminals that Democrats won’t lock up.

+1 We've had teens do this in our area when elderly people are walking, people driving cars, folks walking their dogs, etc. Causes wrecks and causes some to fall down and dogs dart away. Then teens drive off laughing. It's not funny at all.
