| We’re in VA, expecting house to sell for around $800K. Trying to figure out how much we would net for purchase of next home - what would closing costs be, realtor fees, etc? Thanks! |
| For us, taxes and fees are less than 5k. Realtor commission are what you agree to with your agent. 5% has been the norm lately but everything is changing so YMMV. |
Thanks, that helps with estimating how much we would net. |
| You don’t need a realtor. Don’t pay the buyer broker. |
How does that help with anything? You don't know the price point of the house that the poster is referring to when discussing taxes and fees. |
|
Realtor fees can be under $1k. Find a flat fee agent to list the house (costs a few hundred), hire a professional photographer for a few hundred, and give zero to a buyer's agent (totally normal beginning July).
By doing this, you'll have spent under $1k, instead of $40K. Those are likely tax-free savings. Just think of how many weeks you have to work in your job to take home $40K after taxes. |
Well it helps since I was just looking for an estimate of what to expect and the 5% would be the biggest cost. Won’t really know until we put it on the market. |
A lot of weeks! We also get letters/texts from builders frequently, but I don’t know if they would low ball us. So it seems it would still be helpful to see what a fair price would be. |
