Bethesda Soccer On Way Down

We are in the process of moving from Bethesda to another club for next fall. The organization of the new club is night and day better compared to Bethesda. I'm now wondering why we tolerated such disorganization and chaos for years. We all know the draw is the platforms of BSC and the college recruiting potential, but at what cost? There are no planning meetings, no evaluations of players, zero accountability, favoritism and nepotism, and the practice schedule...where to start there? It's a pure mess. Don't be fascinated by the so-called almighty Bethesda. You can get a better experience elsewhere and be treated like a human.

Sounds like every club. When will people realize its about a specific coach not club. Clubs are about separating money from your pocket.

Exactly. They get away with it and you put up with it because you think your kid will get recruited and are willing to pay. This is not rocket science.

Move on mama. No one cares cause we all know already. Only Union families get triggered on here

Good story. Thanks for sharing. Where can Netflix contact you for the rights?

Tell me your kid got cut without telling me your kid got cut.

They have taken an axe against some kids just because they heard they may have tried out elsewhere

Man, is happening everywhere. It seems that we need to come up with a way to make these clubs/coaches accountable. Is a mess in must clubs.

It’s not a Bethesda problem, it’s a KL and JC problem. At least on the girls side.

OP here...kid definitely did NOT get cut. Decision was ours.

The cost may not be worth it to you, but it's worth it to enough families to keep the club competitive

Unfortunately, with BSC being the only ECNL Girls club in MoCo, they will continue to behave the way they do.

My kid plays on a top team with a smaller club in MoCo, with teams that are not on par with Bethesda's in terms of talent.

My kid tried out for Bethesda and was offered a spot on the third team in her age group. I'm well aware of the lowly status of third team players at a club like Bethesda. We ended up turning it down mostly because kid wanted to stay with her friends on the current team.

However, I will say in favor of Bethesda, and in contrast to our current club:

- The tryouts seemed well-organized, and were definitely well-attended

- Bethesda seems to be able to weed out weaker players on the roster and replace them with stronger players. At kid's current club -- miraculously! -- every top team player stayed on the roster, even those with a first touch like a granite wall.

-- By the time of the tryouts, Bethesda could tell you who the coaches would be for the team next year. Current club could not.

I have no doubt that a big club like Bethesda has many evils and isn't for everyone. I am just saying that the smaller, less intense clubs have their issues, too.
