Senior pranks

Does anyone have experience with their child participating in a senior prank at their MCPS high school, and if so, what was the prank and the resulting punishment? My DD, a senior at B-CC, asked me for permission to “camp out” on the field Wednesday night, which is apparently their planned prank (along with parking in the teacher’s lot.) I do not want to allow her to do anything that could harm her ability to walk at graduation, but also don’t want her to miss out on something the whole grade is doing.

Basically nothing that makes work for the cleaning staff or triggers admin to investigate.

I can’t comment to the potential consequences but that’s the camp out idea seems fun. Hopefully no one ruins things and they have fun memories. I understand your predicament and hope you find an answer.

If you're worried about your kid facing consequences, I'd advise them to skip out on the senior prank. The point of Senior Pranks and Senior Skip Days is to cause chaos for school leadership.

A good prank is secretly coordinated with administration.

That's the opposite of a "good" prank.

That is really boring and tame

Way to give away the "prank", parent! All the seniors thank you!

And their parents thank you too.

Well, now the teachers know to leave early and park in a lot or take metro to work that day....
THis sounds pretty harmless. I'm known in my family as "no fun" because I HATE pranks -- anything that is mean or causes damage for "fun" seems to me not at all fun. But a campout does seem kind of fun.

If I'm that teacher, I laugh and then call in sick when there is no parking. I'm not taking metro and I'm not paying to park

last year was graffiti on the rock

It was before our DC’s time at the HS, but one year the seniors hired a mariachi band to follow their teachers around during the day. I so so love that one.

This sounds like the kind of thing the administration will shut down when they see it happening. (They face liability if they know kids are trespassing and they let them do it and someone gets hurt.)

My recommendation is that the kid goes but obeys the administration the first time they give instructions to leave. They aren't going to severely punish >100 kids but kids may well face consequences if they don't follow instructions to leave.
