Depression and peri menopause

Anonymous
I am 46 and perimenopausal. I workout and lead a moderate my healthy life. I have been treated for anxiety, health anxiety but I have always bee type-A. Never experienced depression. Last few months I have been feeling depressed before my period and sometimes it now lasts more than few days.

Lately I have had a few life stressors and I feel I am definitely feeling depressed. I am on SSRI for anxiety which obviously does not do anything any more. I am going to speak with my doctor but do you guys experience these symptoms and how do you cope? What has helped? I also started having tachycardia if I have a drink or two at bedtime, especially if it is a mixed drink. I am absolutely healthy and work out HIIT so I know it’s not cardiac.

Any recs? This forum has always helped a lot with real- life advices

I experienced depression in the earlier days of peri. I also felt absolute RAGE earlier on, but thankfully that passed. I am a few years into it now and since my periods have stretched further and further apart, I no longer experience these things.

Nutrafol Balance helped me. I started it and within a month or two felt more leveled out. I stopped about a year in due to the cost, all of the cyclical depression and rage returned. Started again, and it disappeared. So something about it worked really well for my chemistry.

You really have found this forum helpful? Yikes lady. If I were you, I'd start by taking a hard look at who I'm surrounding myself with and my choices.

I would cut out the alcohol completely for a few years.

Try counseling to get to the root of it?

Why are you on a ssri if it's not working?

Try therapy. Can help with your anxiety too.
