Birkenstocks - teen guys

Anonymous
My rising senior DS has been wanting a pair of Birks for a while, and I’m planning to get him a pair for his birthday in a couple of weeks. Are these still in for high school and college-aged guys? What styles/colors should I be on the lookout for?

Dark brown Arizonas! I’d be so happy if my teen boy wanted Birks. I love them.

Arizona
Our preferences for boys:
-contoured (anatomically correct footbed) over the softbed one
-color/upper material: nubuck upper in mocha or suede upper in taupe

Oh yuck. I absolutely hate the look of Birks or any sandals on guys.

There is nothing stylish about the way teen boys dress so if he likes them get them. Neutral color is best.

Men’s feet are gross so yeah but teens aren’t too gross yet.

Yes, just saw them on high schooler yesterday

Boson or Arizona

Subtly see which he prefers. Get a neutral tan / brown color. And remind him that they can take time to break in!

I have not noticed any of my teen son's friends wearing them. But I see nothing wrong with them, they are comfortable fairly basic sandals.

My rising senior son has had dark brown Arizonas for 2 years. He's pretty fashion savvy--cares about trends and what he wears.

He also wore suede Boston clogs this year in school (he goes to a school that wears blazers and he wore them with a brown tweed blazer).

Not sure how it is near OP, but near us teens would not ever be caught with bare toes, the dogs cannot be out. It's a rule that cannot be broken. Sandals = socks, always.

Same here. Socks and crocs. So awful in my opinion 😬 I’m told you would never wear crocs without socks unless maybe to the pool but I think even then, socks are usually worn on the commute.

I think you should let him pick them out. There are lots of variations. My kids are picky about them. And yes they still wear them with socks.

Birks are very popular with teen boys in my area. My son has a pair, and many of his friends do as well. A lot of them seem to be pretty brand-conscious and have some sort of concern about what they wear. I know my DS appreciates the versatility and ability to wear them with both casual and dressier outfits.

The brown or tan Arizonas are most popular, though many guys have started to wear the Boston ones as well. And yes, you probably had better get him some white Nike crew-length socks as well -- the birks and socks combo is a standard for teen boys in this area.

Birks aren’t even that comfortable. I got sucked into the rage a few years ago and even though they are broken in, they just aren’t that comfortable.
