ECNL moving to school year not calendar

The fact that the USMNT has a disproportionately low number of Latino players (even though this is the main sport of this community and their participation rates are quite high) tells you something about our approach to the sport in the US.

If Pulisic were Latino he’d be shunned and prevented from reaching the heights he has….he also wouldn’t be referred for as Captain America…

That’s the unfortunate reality of a diverse nation that has a group that is not ready for the face of futbol/soccer to be Latino….

The barriers are not created by accident.

USYS I believe. I found their announcement online.

California is the reason why ecnl couldn’t move forward with the age change in 25/26 and now they are pushing the timeline up? SMH

What’s interesting is they have MLSN teams in these leagues in CA. Sounds like everyone is making the change.

Some people just like to complain. Trust me when I say people in sports who want to win or make money don’t care about stuff like that.

Team Adjustments: Some players will shift age groups, which may require clubs to reorganize teams, particularly at younger ages.
Tryout Adjustments: Clubs will need to determine how they handle tryouts and roster formation for the 2026 season and potentially the 2025 season in preparation for next year.
Communication to Parents: Clear messaging will be crucial to help families understand how their child’s team placement may change.

Here we go!

I had a 2010 Q4 ECNL player in a below-average ECNL club. We watched the 2011 ECNL game and were very disappointed. When the switch happens, I will let my kid try out the best 2011 NL team in my area.

Our National team needs a leader with some grit to him… not some privileged boy

Explain this comment? I think you missed the point

Cal South release says they currently have birth year and 8/1 seasonal year registration options. This announcement about move to 9/1 seasonal year registration only appears to mean that even at the rec levels August kids who are older for their grade won’t be allowed to play with their grade anymore. So much for all the people who said “this won’t impact rec levels.” Really? What August kid will enter the sport when they are told they can’t play on their school Kindergarten team?

Hope ECNL will allow SY to play up to end this drama one year earlier.

California has a 9/1 cutoff.
