| I was chatting with some friends yesterday (we all have kids in high school or college) about how our kid’s music taste was trash. Apparently I’m the only person in my friend group who likes the music her daughter (college sophomore) recommends! Granted my son listens to to more popular/Top 100 music and I don’t like much of it, but my daughter’s music recs (as well as her book and movie recs) have always impressed me. Am I in the rare minority of parents who like their kids’ taste in media? |
| I used to when she liked pop, but now she likes Morgan Wallace. |
| My daughter and I have very similar taste in music, books and movies/tv shows. This may change but she’s 16. |
| My son is in to a mix of things including classic rock, so I love sharing songs with him. My daughter has sort of gotten me into country. So that’s fun too. |
| I love a lot of what my DD listens to. She’s turned me on to a few new bands. |
| To the posters who like their kids’ music: what do they listen to? I’m subjected to my kids’ music taste 24/7 at home and in the car, and it’s mostly terrible hip hop and Taylor Swift as well as the occasional Tame Impala and Phoebe Bridgers. What is some current, fresh music nowadays that isn’t all autotuned? |

I do but I'm fine with Taylor Swift and other pop artists. They also like AJR and I like them too. My 9th grader likes phonk and lofi mixes. He gets some fun mixes with Spotify too.
I'm free ranging when it comes to music. |

My 15 year old son likes rock from the 90s, among other things.
I don't love everything he's into but we like a lot of the same songs/albums which is fun. |
| My older teen likes a mix of classic rock, 90s era, and current alternative rock. I'm right there with him! |

Mine 19 yo is deep into straight ahead jazz and it puts me right to sleep
|
| My kids like alternative rock, indie with a side of alt-country - I'm right there with them. Even though some are in college - we plan many concerts together. |
What groups artists? |
| My son is really into Rolling Stones, Who, Kinks, ELO, early David Bowie and the stuff we used to listen to in the 80s ( anti top 40). |
