Looking for ideas for a long weekend (5 days including travel time) in the spring for international travel. My friend hasn't traveled much, wants to leave the country, but doesn't have a lot of time to get away. |
Where are you located? I swear, the lack of details in this Forum... |
Central america |
Um, DC area. That's always implied here.
And the other lack of details, becuase I don't want to limit answers. I've done London and Paris for weekends. Iceland. Hoping someone has other ideas for places that are doable in under a week. |
Where in central America? |
London
Costa Rica Portugal Carribean |
DP. No, it's not always implied here. There are ppl from all over who post here. If you want to get the best answers, help others to help you. Quebec, Montreal, Mexico City. All very doable for a long weekend, depending on your interest. |
If traveling from here, London and Dublin can easily be done in a long weekend. The flights are very short. I've also done Amsterdam. Leave on a Wednesday night, have Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and then leave Sunday. |
Mexico city |
Anywhere in Europe with a direct flight.
Munich. Vienna. Zurich. Madrid. Amsterdam. London. Edinburgh. Glasgow. Dublin. |
Agree. Keep in mind some of these are seasonal with their direct flights. (Madrid and Glasgow) Another to add is Lisbon. |
Iceland, Ireland.
I’d go for nonstop flights so from dc madrid, Rome, Lisbon, Istanbul. |
Agree with these except Istanbul which is too far for a long weekend, IMO. Add London, Paris. Maybe Geneva, Zurich if you plan to get out of those cities, which aren’t very interesting. Vienna also, though I think that might be pushing it for flight time. Also Panama, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Belize, Colombia, Mexico |
I would go somewhere close with a direct flight. This leaves Central America and the Carribean.
Puerto Morelos, MX (fly into Cancun) Mexico City El Salvador, maybe squeeze in 2 stops there Aruba Costa Rica only works if you find a place near the airport. Otherwise, travel times are way too long. Maye Cartagena but not sure about direct flights. |
Paris, London, dublin |
