Which schools look at writing portion of ACT?

Anonymous
Hello -

wondering if anyone can give me a clue. I'd previously heard not to bother doing writing on ACT. But I've recently come across an email that encouraged strong writers to take the writing portion of the ACT (dc is a strong writer). However, a college counselor friend recently told us not to take the writing portion bc "nobody looks at the writing portion" However, this person is based in CA and mainly works with UCs, while we are mainly applying to East Coast schools.

So, wondering if anyone here has a clue as to whether there are any Top50 East Coast schools for which a strong ACT writing score would sway admmissions.

Thanks so much!

None of the T20s kid applied to required ACT writing portion or indicated any interest in it. Princeton required a graded writing sample (expository essay).

Considering the SAT doesn't have a writing portion...I have to believe the answer is zero.

I don't know why everyone abandoned the SAT writing section that existed for a brief 5 years or so.
