So my 11th grader has a friend who is a senior who got offered places at both these colleges. The acceptance rate for each of them is around 40%, these offers just came in (late April / early May) and the kid who has been offered them is a straight B student without an SAT or ACT score.
I just thought this might provide some perspective. We toured both colleges and they have been discussed at length on this board. |
Yes, that sounds about right. |
Sounds right for both schools. Good for B students, preferably full pay. |
kid offered places is not full pay |
The LMU acceptance rate has dipped below 40% in recent years and fall 2022 class average GPA was over 4.0. So, B average is well below and definitely not a guarantee of admission there. |
If they were offered admission late April/early May that likely means it was from the waitlist. If you look at the CDS for LMU the majority (70%) had 3.75-4.0 and most were in the top 25% of their class. |
good looking kid? LMU is full of lookers |
Boy? |
Not sure what the question is. FWIW, I know one Oxy student and she is very bright |
That’s because they all came from Huntington Beach or Mater Dei. Total beachy California upper middle class pretty-people vibes. |
That 4.0 GPA is weighted. |
It really isn't. I toured it recently and its full of your average looking kids like most colleges. I think you're confusing it with University of Southern California, which is a catwalk show. |
I was thinking it was probably waitlist. That GPA is weighted. |
Yes. |
Occidental has a reputation for being extremely woke. |
