New River Gorge

I'm going to Fayetteville, WV to visit my niece but will have some downtime.

Have you been?
What did you find interesting to do?
Anybody do a Tree Top Canopy Tour, if so what company did you use?
I've been told not to go on the river on Saturday because it's so busy.
Anything else to do on a Saturday?

If you did a hike, which one... where did you park?
Was there a climbing company that would do a beginner climb?

Fayetteville is very cute and has a few restaurants - I remember there was a burger place that was very busy.
We did the Castle Rock Trail and Grandview trail. Both with pretty views. Grandview is the easier one as there are no dropoffs. We stayed at a VRBO in the park itself which was very relaxing by the river.

For hikes, we did the Hawks Nest Rail Trail and it was really lush in August with lots of little waterfalls to see. We also did the Endless Wall Trail for great views of the gorge.

We liked the Endless Wall Trail — great views of the gorge. In Fayetteville we really liked Pies and Pints pizzeria, but the wait for a table was very long. For climbing we liked New River Mountain Guides — we had never climbed before, and they picked great climbs for us. If you have more time you can go to Summerville Lake and rent kayaks or SUPs. There is a fun little waterfall and some cliffs to jump off. Probably too cold now, but we went during the summer. We had a great time in Fayetteville — enjoy!
