Summer team rec sports for young kids

Probably a long shot, but are there any summer team sports (other than swim team) available for 5/6 year olds? The Arlington or Falls Church areas would be ideal, but we’re willing to drive a bit if needed.

There might be t ball. Look at Arlington little league.

I would suggest seeing what some of the bigger places like i9 have, or looking at county camps. For that age there's not much over the summer - what is offered over the summer is usually additional seasons of sports for older kids who already know what they love.

Dulles Sportsplex has a variety of 8 week summer leagues/programs for that age. Field hockey, soccer, flag football, basketball, volleyball, etc.

Bit of a hike from Falls Church area but might be worth it. At least you know games won’t get rained out.

Also Reston Hoops offers a summer basketball league for as young as 5 years old. Registration ends at the end of May. Cost is a little higher for out of county.

Yes, i9 does summer leagues that are perfect for young kids. There are several chapters in this area.

Also look at nearby county/ city parks and rec summer offerings. I’m in Loudoun, but our town P&R has summer basketball, baseball, and soccer. It’s once a week and very low-key.
