Comp time for salary employee

Anonymous
We have a 3 day off site this week at work. We are all staying in a hotel overnight starting today. There will be dinners, etc at night. Colleague wants comp time for it but we are all salary. I think she is wrong to ask.

Doesn't hurt you if she asks. I hope she gets it.

Ridiculous

We would give comp time for that at our office. Are the dinners required? Is it longer than a normal day?

What’s ridiculous, her asking or the unpaid “dinners and overnight” for corp boondoggle for the execs. What a waste of time.

Unless it involves a weekend, then no. That's ridiculous.

Is she asking for 72 hours of comp or just the required dinners?

Please. No one needs your jaded victim of corporate life negativity. Just resign already.
For every one of you there are a bunch who will actually like spending time together.

IMO if the travel is over a weekend or holiday, one should receive comp time.

Otherwise no, not for a salaried employee.

Well she showed she is a jerk. I don’t get people like this

Right, I'm jaded because the PP supports my cynicism by saying she is unpromotable because she doesn't want to spend 3 Fing days with her work "bros" rather than living her own life. People get promoted for how well they party and golf, not actually reflected on the work accomplished.

I work in higher ed. We have an unofficial policy of 1 day comp time for travel. Travel is generally 3-4 days and usually includes 1 weekend day.

Her evenings are hers, whether they are during the week or not.
