All in with food, alcohol, supplies, about $5k. Does that sound outrageous? We only host parties once every couple years. Otherwise we do small gatherings where we do our own grilling, etc. |
This is an odd question because you can have a party on any budget. $5k will be outrageous to some, and low to others. Depends on how many people and the type of things you "need" when you host. I like staff like a bartender and renting a lot of stuff (tables, lines, glasses). Someone else might think that's ridiculous. |
It sounds outrageous if you make $50K, less outrageous if you make $500K. It's all relative. |
Approx. 40-ish adults, bartender with full bar, catered food.
|
What kind of food?
Sit-down dinner? Heavy hors d'oeuvres? Food truck? |
We’re a little more than $500k HHI. This is my first time shelling out that kind of money for a party at home, I guess I just need a gut check. But if we went to a restaurant and hosted even a small group, I guess it would easily reach that amount. |
It's $125pp. You would spend that if you went to a restaurant. But you could scale back on the home party. Keep it to beer and wine, help yourself, no bartender. Depends what kind of party this is. |
Sounds right. |
That’s a good way to think about it. Thanks. |
Seems a bit high to me tbh. |
Definitely don’t skip the bartender. |
I’m rounding up and this amount includes things like glassware that I want for the house (not rentals) and also some splurges so this makes me think I’m in the ballpark. |
I would rather skimp on the bartender than the food. Since it's at home there aren't many other areas to cut back. |
It seems a little high to me, too. You could definitely do a restaurant at this price.
Does it include tables, chairs, linens? Are they doing everything? (all set up, break down, prep and cleaning after?) All one place? (ie, one bill?) I think if you separated it out you could get cheaper without too much effort. You could hire a bartender, and supply the booze yourself. That probably saves a lot. And then the food - What is your vision for the food? is this passed appetizers, which requires more staff? a seated dinner? Could you do a buffet, have the catering company come in and do set up and then just have a couple of staff keep on top of trash and picking up discarded plates and drinks? |
That’s nuts. Should be less than 1k even w catered food. |
