Menstrual issues, possibly endometriosis.
Thanks |
Pediatric gynecologist are a thing. |
Hit enter too soon. Rachel Casey with Inova is fantastic. |
Several docs at my Capital Women's Care in Silver Spring see adolescents. If you're mom OP, call your own GYN and ask if someone at their office sees adolescents. |
Why can’t you ask her pediatrician fir a referral? |
When I was 14 I just went to Planned Parenthood to get my birth control. Not sure about issues like endometriosis. |
Every OBGYN I've seen, except those specializing in menopause, have seen younger teens. I'd first look for someone specializing in endometriosis. If the one you like best wouldn't see your DD, they can likely recommend someone. |
Rockville Gynecology. |
Any regular GYN can see a menstruating teenager though. Pediatric GYN is more like, for 4 year olds or something. |
Swetha Naroji at Children's Hospital. She specializes in Pediatric Gynecology. She was great with my daughter and our concerns. She described a woman's reproductive system to my daughter better than my own doctors ever did for me! |
Children's has some great ped gyns.
But any garden variety gyn should be able to handle endometriosis/teens. |
Most gyns will see a teenager. |
If it is endo is totally not true re the garden variety gyn. I would start with a regular gyn, but if you really do suspect endo, start with serious self-education and researching a specialist, and be prepared to be persistent- the average diagnosis time is 5-10 years depending on when symptoms start / are identified as possible endo and the severity. Nancy’s nook has a master rec list that’s pretty good, but will require independent research. There’s also a mildly annoying but active facebook community, and I have seen some recent parents posting. |
Where are you located, OP? I love my gyn - she only does gyn, not ob, and has teenagers herself. I'll take my daughters to her when the time comes. |
Thanks, found several. Virginia. |
