Our drinking water is more contaminated than I realized.

I watched "Dark Waters" on Netflix last night and was left horrified. I knew that Teflon products were dangerous but never realized that these products are still being manufactured. This movie is important to watch for your family's health. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBGi3SzxkKk

Thaks for the recommendation. This one looks good, but more expensive. For now I'll be buying distilled water a gallon jugs.

Teflon chemicals are found in beauty products, plastic storage containers, dental floss, e-cigarettes and many other products. They are especially dangerous for women. https://newsnetwork.mayoclinic.org/discussion/mayo-clinic-minute-forever-chemicals-found-in-thousands-of-household-products-may-affect-womens-heart-health/

What about all the microplastics in the plastic jugs?

That's a problem, too. I ordered a countertop water purifier https://www.amazon.com/AQUA-TRU-Countertop-Technology-Installation/dp/B0BT4FYHFJ/ref=pd_lpo_sccl_1/142-8670335-4167926

And a couple of PBA free water bottles.

You need a reverse osmosis system.

+1

Glide floss is actually a huge source of pfas. It's the only kind of floss I can use between my close-together teeth, so I don't floss anymore. I switched to a natural bristle toothbrush which is almost as good.

We have a Berkey Water Filter on our kitchen counter and it has been life changing. All family members drinking more water - and the taste of the purified water is incredible.

Highly recommend. Filters out all the bad stuff. Doesn't look bad on the counter. (It's all stainless steel). Filters can last YEARS - with minimal upkeep.

Yes, it’s a huge problem. My husband is from a small city on the Ohio river that was at the epicenter of PFAS production: he and many family members/friends developed autoimmune diseases, infertility, cancer etc.

Dupont never really paid for what they did. And when they left WV they (rebranded) moved to NC and started doing the same thing there.

I am appalled at how business “interests” continue to take precedence over human health and water/soil/air integrity in this country. It is nothing short of shameful.

You need the aquasana under sink reverse osmosis system to remove PFAS, this one doesn’t remove PFAS. The RO system is around $200-300 depending on deals available.

One of the most awful aspects of the PFAS contamination story is that for many years municipalities sold their waste water sludge to farms all over the country to use as fertilizer - but the sludge contains all the contaminants that end up in municipal water systems including PFAS - so now some farms are so contaminated they cannot be used to grow human food crops anymore and many states are still allowing the use of sludge on farmland so the problem is ongoing because a very large number of municipal water systems - and private wells - in this country are contaminated with PFAS.

But no worries, 97% of humans and all other mammals are believed to have PFAS in their bodies so the horse is long out of the barn.

Humans are invasive and destructive and seem compelled to foul their own nest at every opportunity.

No, we foul each other's nests.
