Knit/crochet circles or clubs for making friends? Where?

Anonymous
Wasn't sure where to post this so "relationships" is where it landed b/c I'm looking to make some new friends. Seeing some social groups of this nature in DC but I'm outside the beltway and looking for something in the NOVA area (Centreville, Fairfax, Burke, etc.)

I am not having much luck. Anyone know of something like this? Would love to meet up, chat, meet new people, share projects/tips (and maybe sip a glass of wine, though that is not mandatory).

I'd find a local yarn store and ask there. Also check your local library. I saw my library in Arlington had a notice about a knit/crochet gathering.

Download meetup on your phone, I had it for a while and I think I remember a few knitting get togethers.

+1. Go to the closest yarn store to you and ask them. I go to Looped Yarn Works in Dupont regularly and there is a solid community there. They have extended hours on Thursdays and it turns into a group all sitting together and chatting as we knit or crochet. Regulars come in to sit and knit or for advice from the staff all the time.

OP. I have no problem doing that. But the local ones that I looked at didn't have anything like this listed on the websites so I just assumed that meant there wasn't anything. But I'll give a call or contact them and ask.

Fiber Soace sucks. The owner is a total b¡tch. I would look at Loop if I deigned to join a knitting group.

Spill the tea! It's the closest store to me, so I had been shopping there. How bad we talking? Should I take my business elsewhere?

Loop is in DC and I'm outside the beltway. Fibrespace is the only one I'm finding that has this sort of group (2x/week).

Any other meetups anyone knows about? Not quite ready for a granny knitting circle so hoping for something more social for mid-aged women.

Some churches have groups that knit or crochet items for the NICU.

They have some at local libraries too. It's morning on a weekday, unfortunately.
